Wesley Card is the CEO and president of Jones Apparel Group. He took the reins of the struggling U.S. apparel manufacturer upon the abrupt exit of then-CEO Peter Boneparth in July 2007.

Card studied management at the University of Rhode Island but changed his major and earned a B.S. in accounting instead. Next came a job at Price Waterhouse, CPA certification and a two-year stint at Bank of Boston. Card held senior positions at Warnaco and Carolyne Roehm until 1990, when Jones Apparel founder Sidney Kimmel hired him as the chief financial officer of the fast-growing company.

In his first year as CEO, Card completed Jones’ highly lucrative sale of the Barneys luxury chain to a Dubai private equity firm. He also inked an exclusive deal with Wal-Mart to carry its flagging L.E.I. junior label. Wall Street smiled on both moves.

Card, a former chairman of the American Apparel and Footwear Association, has said he intends for Jones to adopt a fast-fashion business model, along the lines of Zara and H&M.
